Exam Eligibility
Licensing & CPE
Exam vs. Licensure: Connecticut requires different credit thresholds to sit for the CPA exam versus obtaining your license. You can begin testing with 24 accounting credits, but must complete 36 for full licensure. Business credits: 22 to sit, 30 for licensure. Total credits: 120 to sit, 150 for licensure.

Traditional 150-Credit Pathway
- •150 semester hours with accounting concentration
- •1 year of supervised experience
120-Credit + Experience Pathway
Effective: October 1, 2025
- •Bachelor's degree with accounting concentration
- •27 semester hours in accounting (including introductory)
- •24 semester hours in economics and business administration
- •2 years of experience under a CPA who has held credential for at least 3 years
Graduate Degree Pathway
- •Post-baccalaureate degree with accounting concentration
- •27 semester hours in accounting, 24 in business
- •1 year of supervised experience
