The LIFTS Framework
Every "best CPA review course" list gives you the same answer. Atlas CPA Index built the LIFTS framework to do something different: a structured methodology that matches your situation to the course that actually fits.
Five dimensions. 8 providers scored. 20 data points per course. No single "best"—only the best for you.
Five Dimensions. One Perfect Match.
Each dimension captures a different aspect of what makes a CPA review course the right fit for a specific candidate.
How Providers Are Scored
Each provider receives a score from 1 to 4 for every sub-option within each dimension. That means each provider has 20 individual scores—4 per dimension, across all 5 dimensions.
The 1–4 Scale
Scores are determined by our editorial team based on feature analysis, platform testing, and user experience evaluation. They are not influenced by affiliate commission rates or provider relationships.
How Matching Works
You answer 5 questions
One question per LIFTS dimension. Each answer selects one of four options (e.g., L2 for Audio learner, I1 for Minimal budget).
We look up each provider's scores
For your selected options, we pull the corresponding score (1-4) from each provider's LIFTS profile.
Scores are summed
Your 5 selected scores are added together. Maximum possible: 20 (a perfect 4 on every dimension).
Match percentage calculated
Total score divided by 20, expressed as a percentage. A provider scoring 17/20 is an 85% match.
Top 3 recommendations returned
Providers are ranked by match percentage. Your top 3 matches are shown with detailed breakdowns.
Example Calculation
A visual learner (L1) with a mid-range budget (I3), self-paced preference (F1), standard timeline (T2), and instructor support needs (S3):
Total: 16/20 = 80% match
Score Overview
Average LIFTS score per dimension for each provider. These scores reflect editorial assessment—not rankings, not ad placements.
Scores are averages across 4 sub-options per dimension (1–4 scale). Higher is not universally "better"—the best score depends on your specific needs.
Education Programs Use LIFTS Too
The same framework extends to our 53 education programs across 7 categories. Whether you're comparing MAcc programs or certificate options, LIFTS scoring helps you find the right academic fit alongside your review course.
Editorial Independence
LIFTS scores are determined by editorial assessment of provider features, content quality, and user experience. Providers cannot pay for higher scores, and affiliate commission rates have no influence on scoring.
Atlas CPA Index is owned by the same entity as Meridian CPA Review. This relationship is disclosed throughout the site, and Meridian is scored using the same methodology as every other provider.
